Duncan Street

We reluctantly ended our community BBQ - chased inside by the fading light and cooling breeze.

Our planned Saturday event was deferred until Sunday evening and had 15 people present representing 7 households - all adults apart from one Intermediate-aged boy. Two households were not able to join us.

It was very worthwhile and people were very appreciative of an opportunity to meet neighbours. We live along two shared driveways in Duncan Street. Some of us have met together on previous occasions, but the neighbourhood weekend concept gave us a natural opportunity to invite other people who live nearby as well.

We were surprised to find that a number of us are relatively recent arrivals to Tawa and so it was a great way to welcome new people into the neighbourhood. Definitely something we are pleased to have been involved in and we will try to encourage other groups along our street to join in next time.
