Greyfriars Cres (upper)

Held on Saturday 24th March, 2012

We initially organised a street BBQ to be held on the grass section at the end of our street on Saturday at 5.30pm. Due to poor weather conditions we simplified our plans to sharing nibbles/finger food/dessert in a double garage. Steve Werner had kindly cleaned out his garage and arranged three sofas, and I brought extra chairs. There was soft lighting, tables etc in the garage and his rumpus room to play DVD movies for the kids.

It was a great evening spent chatting to both familiar and unfamiliar neighbours. I now know all the names of the neighbours that live in the upper street section. We would be keen to make it an annual event. I now feel more prepared if we were put in an earthquake situation.

20 households in total were invited and 43 people took part. Thanks to our organisers Mal Fyfe, Pamela Johnson, Steve Werner (and me).
