Mexted Tce West
Held on Sunday 25th March, 2012 at 5pm
Originally the Neighbours' Day get-together for Mexted Tce West was to take place on Saturday 24th March at 5pm. On Friday we made the decision to postpone the event until the following day because the forecast was much better for Sunday. We were really pleased with this decision as we'd planned to eat a "BYO takeaways or picnic tea" in the backyard of one of our neighbours, and Sunday did indeed turn out to be a beautiful afternoon - better even than the forecast had promised.
18 residents attended (12 adults and 6 children) and enjoyed eating their dinner outside whilst the sun was slowly setting behind the Tawa hills. Our hosts kindly baked a scrumptious chocolate cake, which we all enjoyed with some ice cream and baby chocolate fish after dinner. Two adults who were visiting the hosts joined in as well and commented about how great it was to have been included amongst such a friendly group of people.
The trampoline was a big hit with the kids and there was also a fun game of soccer involving both adults and kids. We were offered a hot drink to finish what was a lovely and relaxing Neighbours' Day celebration. This was welcomed because when the sun set behind the hills, it really started to get quite chilly.
We'd like to thank Tina and Luke for hosting our celebration. It was really enjoyable. We look forward to getting together again in the near future.
