Park Ave

Held on Sunday 25th March, 2012

Park Avenue's barbecue was held on Sunday at 6pm after a quick consultation around the street on the Saturday. We held it in front of the garage of no. 10a which gave us a bit of shelter from a slight breeze blowing.

I counted 16 people representing 7 families out of the 11 in the street. We would probably have got more on the Saturday night (as originally planned), as the whole street had been behind the idea from the start.

It was a very pleasant occasion with attendances ranging from the longest residents in the street (over 40 years) to one not quite born yet but due any moment. For most of us it was the first time we had got to know more than our immediate neighbours and discover what we had been missing.

As always with these events people turned up with enough food for a small siege so no-one went short of anything. Before we broke up at about 8pm we agreed to have a mid-winter progressive dinner.
