Romney Square

Held on Saturday 24th March, 2012

We really enjoyed hosting our street BBQ on Saturday at 6pm. It was a bit overcast but the rain held off, so we went ahead as planned. The event was held at our house. We had two BBQs so the meat was cooked quickly. There was ample food as most people brought meat, a salad and some even brought yummy cakes and biscuits as well.

We had 20 people and three children attend. They were mainly from Romney Square. One family came from Lincoln Avenue as their house overlooks our street.

There was a good cross mix of ages, and people mixed and mingled well. The event gave us the opportunity of getting to know our neighbours better and meeting some for the first time.

I was very grateful to the two families who helped to support this event - Sandy and John Dean who printed off the flyers and provided extra plates, and Terry and Joy McIvor who provided an extra BBQ on the day. Terry personally went round and invited folk in our street. He couldn't attend on the day as he had a prior commitment, however Joy came and supported the event. And a thank you to Dave and Ken who manned the BBQs.
