Tawa motorists are being given the message to slow down through the installation of two 'driver feedback' signs. The signs were installed by the Wellington City Council last week as part of their bid to curb speed-related crashes throughout the suburb.
The signs flash the speeds of oncoming cars unless motorists are lead-footed (exceeding 55kmh), in which case it signals the words 'slow now'.
"We have problems on Main Road in Tawa, as well as many other roads. Speeds are higher than they should be right across the board," said WCC road safety manager Paul Barker.
