These photos taken by Richard Herbert are a record of the Friends of Tawa Bush Reserves working bee last Sunday afternoon, July 8th, 2007, at Brasenose Park. 14 people were in action, Friends members plus couple of Tawa Scouts and couple of people from the community.
Over 400 trees were planted on the eastern embankment of Brasenose Park, 200 of which were supplied from the WCC Nursery and the balance from members' own handiwork. This was completed in record time due to Brian Carter's and Norm Robertson's preparation work in having pre-dug all the holes in somewhat difficult ground. The rain during the week meant that the trees are off to a good start. As long as they survive spring winds and summer drought, this will make a huge difference to this area which had been previously cleared of its gorse cover by various 'Friends'.
