It was the day of Tawa's biennial Music Festival, on this occasion aptly named "Tawa Goes to Town", at the Michael Fowler Centre on Tuesday, 23rd September 2008. The dress rehearsal had taken place in the morning. Early afternoon the parade to celebrate Wellington's winning the Ranfurly Shield ended up in nearby Civic Square.

A group of Tawa College students proudly displayed Tawa's own "Log o' Wood" at the proceedings, the students featuring briefly on TV1's News that evening. Our famous "Log o' Wood" is pictured here along with the Ranfurly Shield.

The Festival itself, a muliti-media musical extravaganza involving around 700 participants from the Tawa community, was a roaring success. See the following pics on Facebook:
