The Caltex service station, situated amongst the Main Road shops in the centre of Tawa, closed several months ago. Despite sitting empty ever since, it continued to advertise petrol at 165.9/litre - as in the first photo above, taken on Wednesday, 24th February 2010.

It has now been fully disestablished as a service station and the underground tanks removed during the past week. The other photos were taken on Thursday 4th and Friday 5th March. The current rumour is that Burger King will be setting up on this site. However to the best of our knowledge there's no truth behind that rumour. We'll just have to wait and see what happens!

P.S. The Streetwise coffee cart seen in the pics sells very tasty coffee!
