USA history trip fundraiser

Most Saturdays - if not every Saturday - from now (May 2010) until around this time next year you're likely to come across barbecued sausages being sold between United Video and Mac's Photo & Lotto shop on the Main Road. It's a fundraising effort on behalf of a group of Tawa College students who will be heading off to the northeastern USA on a history trip in June 2011. The cost for each student is in excess of $8000 - quite a lot to raise! So make sure you buy a hot sausage or two every time you visit the local shops on a Saturday morning.

The pic above features Tawa College year 12 student George Love who's hoping to sell a lot of sausages to help pay for his trip. His father Terry is at right. The other bods are happy customers visiting from Taranaki. It's possible they travelled all that way to buy these sausages, but it's also possible that isn't the main reason they were visiting these parts.
