This page was compiled on Tuesday, 12 October 2010. The recent local body elections concluded this past Saturday. All the hoardings were taken down by the end of the previous day (or at least that was meant to happen). These photos are a reminder of what was in place for up to six weeks leading up till then. Postal voting took place over the past three weeks with the mayoral outcome expected tomorrow, Wednesday. The provisional result had Kerry just 40 votes ahead of Celia, with 24,400+ votes for each.
In the Northern ward Justin Lester*, Ngaire Best and Helene Ritchie were elected to the Council - in that order.
The following were elected to the Tawa Community Board: Malcolm Sparrow, Robert Tredger, Margaret Lucas*, Graeme Hansen, Alistair Sutton*, Chris Reading. * = a newbie.
The setting for the first lot of hoardings below is the northern side of Tawa St, just next to the roundabout on the Main Road, accross the road from the BP station. The second setting is the western side of the Main Road, almost at Grasslees Reserve. The third lot are at the southern end of Tawa, across the road from the Shell station. The building being constructed (on the corner of the Main Road and Sunrise Boulevard) is a big new childcare centre.
