Out of stock at the Supermarket

The following tale (which isn't particularly exciting, really) isn't exactly an uncommon "occurrence".

A certain individual went to the local supermarket with his wife around the middle of the day yesterday, Sunday. On the outside window he noticed a poster advertising a certain brand of butter on "special". Because butter was one item on their shopping list that day, he made the comment: "What's the bet it's out of stock?"

And so it proved to be, as shown in the above photo. For whatever reason, certain items on "special" run out all too quickly and aren't replaced. There may be a reason for this. There may not be. Whatever the case, this is what transpired yesterday. To be fair, the supermarket in question often has good specials and lots of items don't run out. But the ones that do are the ones that cause that little bit of frustration.

If all goes to plan, it appears that in the future - by the end of next year - Tawa will have two supermarkets for shoppers to choose from. Perhaps "competition" will ensure that empty shelves become part of the past. That would be good.
