Fundraiser for Japan trip

The photos below feature a cake stall held recently at the central Tawa shops to raise funds for an upcoming Tawa Intermediate student exchange to Japan. A party of 16 students led by deputy principal Keith Rickard and principal Carolyn Stuart will be away from Tuesday 23rd August till Sunday 4th September, with a day or two in Tokyo but based mostly in Fujiyoshida at the foot of Mt Fuji.

The exchange always takes place with the 26th August in mind as this is the date of the Fire Festival - a huge cultural event in Fujiyoshida and an unforgetable experience for the students. Tawa Intermediate has been partnered with Fujigoko Jaycees since 1995 and visits Japan every second year. The school played host to 20 Japanese students and three adults back in March.
