Colours of the World Cup

As anyone who's been in these parts will know, most New Zealanders have got caught up - in some way or another - with the atmosphere and hype surrounding the Rugby World Cup which is currently under way in this country. In fact we're well into the "business end". In other words, at the time this was being compiled, the semi-finalists have been sorted and there are only two weekends to go before it's all over.

I was out of the country for the first three weeks of proceedings, most of the "round robin" matches. That wasn't deliberate but just the way it worked out! However it's plain to see, in the one week I've been back, the number of cars and even houses that are proudly flying the flag (or flags) of the team(s) their owners are supporting. Here's just a small sampling from Sunday 2nd to Sunday 9th October 2011. These photos were all taken in Tawa. If you have a photo you'd like to see added to this page, feel free to email it through.

	New Zealand or Scotland?   The latter didn't make it past the round robin stage.
	Diehard Welsh supporter by the looks of things.
	All Blacks or Samoa?   The latter progressed about as far as Scotland did (see above).
	Tawa Building Supplies getting into it. Good to see NZ at the top   of the pole. Also Tonga, Argentina and Scotland.
	Support for the All Blacks at Redwood School - last day of term 3.
	Oriel Ave.
	Woodman Drive.
	Fyvie Ave. No more divided loyalties after this past weekend.   South Africa didn't make it past the quarter finals.
	Committed support for Tonga. They did well against the French,   but not well enough to make it past the round robin phase.
	Support for the team which will triumph overall. We certainly   hope that proves to be the case.
