Our Stadium outing to see the
Hurricanes play the Crusaders
Almost 50 of us (Club Intermeders plus a few parents, brothers & sisters, etc) met at Tawa Station and caught the 4.10pm train in to the WestpacTrust Stadium for a scheduled 5.35pm kickoff. Our local Hurricanes, whose rather appropriate motto is "Expect the Unexpected", were playing the top-of-the-table (and unbeaten) Crusaders from Canterbury. The visitors got off to a good start and really never looked back. At halftime the scoreboard read Hurricanes 13, Crusaders 29. By game's end the home team had lost 20-48. Although it wasn't the result that many would have wished for, it really was a great match and a lot of fun to be at. [The compiler of this page can say that because he's a born and bred Cantabrian!] The painted faces, waving flags and other displays of team colours all contributed to making it a special occasion. The pics below are set out in the order in which they were taken. |
