Christmas holiday 2002 at Christine & Murray's farm near Te Aroha in the Waikato - page 2

An outing on the Friday
(December 27th)

Passing through the town of Paeroa, we stopped for a shot of New Zealand's famous L & P (Lemon & Paeroa) bottle On to the Karangahake Gorge, old gold mining country - heading across the highway into a disused (rather long) railway tunnel
Out the other side of the tunnel
- the view of the gorge
Group pose
The motley crew again Nearing the end of our walk
The suspension bridge Pleasant river setting
The open carriage on the little tourist train that runs the few kilometres between Waihi and Waikino On our way
Alongside the highway and native bush This is dairy country - cows crossing the line cause the train to stop!
The end of the line - a short stop there before returning to Waihi Beautiful waterfall setting nearby
The open-cast gold & silver mine at Waihi - the trucks at left are the same size as the big baby in the next pic Getting it all in perspective - these trucks can hold 85 tonnes of rock!
Wild dog of Mt Te Aroha (actually Kelly), showing the sometimes steep and rugged path to the top Native totara tree on Mt Te Aroha
