We met at Tawa Station on a pleasant winter's evening for the 6.33pm train into central Wellington. The guard was good enough to give us (32 Club Intermed kids and five adults) our own carriage, although I suspect that was for the benefit of the other passengers as much as for us! Even then she warned us to "keep the noise down!"

From the railway station we caught a bus to Courtenay Place, and descended en masse on Burger King for the first half of a burger each (not a lot before 7.30pm). We then walked along the busy Friday night streets for the "other half" of our burger at McDonald's in Manners Mall, stopping along the way for liquid refreshments (coke and lemonade) alongside a fountain and pool. Kids being kids, it was probably inevitable that one of our number would fall in, and that's exactly what happened!

Our last port of call was McDonald's in Lambton Quay for fries and a soft-serve cone (except that the machine hit empty with fewer than half of us served). As that point we literally had to eat and run to get back to the railway station for the 9pm train to Tawa. I'm sure that most (if not all) would agree that it was a fun evening.
