The Tawa heritage sign

The Wellington City Council's Heritage section has overseen the making and construction of a Tawa Heritage 'sign' (structure) which finally went into place on the corner of the Main Road and Cambridge Street, just outside the library in the last week of August 2009.

The sign features four panels, lit at night, which tell of four aspects of Tawa's history (left to right below) - its settlement, local government, the place of education, and Tawa's transport links. The wording on the panels was in large measure provided by the Tawa Historical Society who have worked with the Council on this project for a number of years.
