Our Stadium outing to see the
Hurricanes play the Brumbies

65 of us (27 Club Intermeders, 17 other youngsters and 21 adults) met at Tawa Station and caught the 6.15pm train in to the Westpac Stadium for a 7.35pm kickoff. Our local Hurricanes, who were in second place on the Super 12 table after 8 consecutive wins, were playing the 5th-placed Brumbies from Australia. Halfway through the first half the home team was leading 10-0, but the Brumbies made sure they stayed in the match by scoring next and were never very far behind. The scoreboard read Hurricanes 20, Brumbies 14, at halftime. With 20 minutes left to play the Brumbies had edged ahead, 28-27. At that point the match could have gone either way but, despite our willing them on, the Hurricanes didn't really look like they were going to overhaul the opposition. They didn't. The final score: Hurricanes 27, Brumbies 35, with both teams scoring 4 tries. The pics below show something of the fun occasion it was (despite the scoreline).
