Our neighbourhood BBQ had a more dramatic start than planned, with an emergency dash to Kenepuru A & E 15 minutes before we began! Preparation of a salad that included the removal of a stone from an avocado using a steak knife resulted in a badly cut finger that required urgent hospital treatment. However quick consultation with neighbours meant that the BBQ proceeded at the scheduled time in our absence.

We eventually returned to find the BBQ running smoothly with good banter among the neighbours and some jokes relating to how to correctly remove a stone form an avocado! It was a very enjoyable time meeting up with our neighbours in a relaxed setting - some new and some from last year. For these newcomers to our location, it was a great setting for introductions to be made.

19 people attended, all young adults and older. Fine warm weather, lots of laughter and good food added to the enjoyment of the afternoon and we all agree this will be an annual event.
