Rotary Book Fair 2011

The Book Fair is Tawa Rotary's biggest local fundraising opportunity each year. Almost half the proceeds are directed to the Life Education Trust, the remainder to various groups including several in Tawa. $18,400 was raised at last year's Book Fair.

This year's Book Fair is once again taking place at Tawa Junction and has seen a huge amount of effort put in by Doug Burrus and other Rotarians. It is being held over two weekends at the end of July. These pics were taken on the first Saturday, a wet and miserable one. Fortunately the weather doesn't stop the many hundreds that patronise the Book Fair and who go home with many hours of reading material.

The customers flocked in during the course of the morning.

Multitudes of purchases took place inside whilst, outside, it really wasn't a nice day at all.

The barbecue was set up at the front door, primarily for the benefit of those who had already bought their books. The smell of freshly-cooked sausages was more than many could resist.
