Tawa Community Centre

The Community Centre is located at 5 Cambridge St, Tawa, between the Mervyn Kemp Library (on the Main Road corner) and Woolworths supermarket, and is open to the community 10am to 4pm each week day.

The Community Centre provides:

  • office space for various groups - tenants have set up in the various offices in what used to be the Tawa Service Centre
  • meeting space (at reasonable rates) for organisations wanting a place to meet - dance and other recreational classes already take place in the hall
  • local information for anyone wanting to know what's happening in Tawa
  • coffee and tea for those simply wanting to 'drop in'

The Centre also instigates various community events from time to time. A Community Pot Luck Meal is held every second month. The first took place in late March 2008. For more about that, click here. For details of the next Pot Luck Meal, see Tawa's 'Coming Events' page. A weekly Community Luncheon is held on a Friday at 12.30pm.

The pics below show the main areas inside the Community Centre complex. These rooms are for hire to both community groups and to businesses.
