A lot of new houses have been built in recent years at the end of Woodman Drive, near where it links with Bing Lucas Drive (although that link is still unsealed and possibly still not even 'official'). Beyond that a newly-formed track (the width of a road) continues up the hill, and it looks like further development will take place in that neck of the woods in time to come.

So it was time for the writer to go exploring. On a pleasant Sunday afternoon in October (17th to be precise, two days before this page was compiled) he set off uphill with his faithful canine companion. The views from up there were great, particularly looking in the direction of Porirua and Titahi Bay. It only took 25 minutes or so to get as far as he could go - to a securely-locked gate which conveyed the distinct impression that one wasn't to proceed further! The photos below show portions of Tawa from a slightly different perspective, simply because he hadn't been up that way before.
