Stalls at Intermediate School 'Gala'
Friday October 15, 2004

Students at the school had the opportunity to become entrepreneurs one lunchtime by hiring a stall for $2 at their own 'Gala' in the school hall and offering for sale whatever they wished. Goods on offer included various homemade sweets (chocolate fudge, sherbet, etc), toffee apples, cakes, drinks, necklaces, assorted trinkets, and so on. The hall was packed with both sellers and potential customers. It looked like a fun time for all concerned but some did perhaps learn a lesson in 'business reality' in that with lots of competitors out there, certain ones do well whilst others don't. With such an array of goods on offer, at least one or two stallholders sold very little at all - not nearly as much as they would have liked! Such is life!
